If you go to YouTube or other video hosting sites and search for the keyword “hack”, the search results would yield a lot of how to do this, how to do that, how to hack your … etc. It seems that a lot of people are getting better and more sophisticated at hacking just about anything they can get their hands on. Among these hacks, I have encountered videos demonstrating how to hack batteries. Since this is an area or topic that I am most especially interested in, I did a little research on the plausibility of all sorts of hacks for various battery types.
Hack #1. Open up an ordinary household battery and you will find smaller useful batteries.
In the video, it shows someone taking apart a typical household battery to show viewers what is inside. Removing the external housing yields what looks like a collection of batteries such as AA, AAA, AAA or button cell batteries. I was amazed when I first saw this but knowing that it came from the Internet, I did a little experimenting of my own to confirm if this is indeed true. Unfortunately, what I saw in the video was in fact a fake. These common household batteries do not contain any of the batteries mentioned above. Aside from the fact that the idea is absurd, is also dangerous. Never take apart a battery. It contains harmful agents such as acid, which are harmful to us.
Hack #2. You can revive a dead laptop battery by replacing the dead battery cells.
Now I have found this hack to be true but I would not recommend it. Aside from the fact that a certain level of technical know-how is required, it is simply dangerous. If you do not know what you are doing, you could get hurt. For example, did you know that batteries can and do explode? Even with the best instructional videos, a lot of things could go wrong.
If your laptop battery dies, don’t be a cheapskate. Purchase a high quality battery and NEC ac adapter for your laptop. You may think you are saving money from hacking your battery but you might end up in the losing end if something goes wrong.
